What is Car Chamois Wash?
Well, Car Chamois Wash refers to drying of the car with the use of chamois. In early times, chamois were used to eliminate water from the fuel. Chamois is made from the animal Chamois Antelope. Since this animal is more or less extinct, getting real Chamois is bit difficult.
The jet pilots who used this to test presense of water in the fuel before they were going to take off in the Korean War first used chamois. British valets also used them in the past to push of the water particles from their freshly washed charges.
There is nothing like full Car Chamois Wash but it could be called as drying your car using chamois. Now the question is which type of chamois you should use to dry your car. There are 2 types of chamois namely natural and synthetic chamois. Natural chamois contains acids and are primarily tannic which could strip off the wax you have applied on your car. Never use natural chamois to dry your car.
To properly dry your car you could use a synthetic chamois. Use a combination of chamois and dry towel to properly dry your car. Lay the chamois on the surface of the car and it will blot the water. You could then switch to dry towel and lay it on the same surface to remove any water droplets left behind by chamois. You could continue it for all the part of your car by switching between chamois and dry towel to pat dry your car.
Do not use diapers or old t-shirts for drying your car. This is due to the reason that diapers have around 6000 grit sandpaper while t-shirt have 8000 grit, which is not suitable for the car.
